How magic works.
Not all the magic we see is done by sleight of hand or use of props. Many illusions rely on the assumptions we make in everyday life that have been attained as we get older. As our experience grows, so does the assumption process. When we see and experience everyday things, our brains will often automatically shortcut to a preconceived solution or idea based on what has happened previously. This is why adult magic does not work for children, they have few pre conceived ideas to which the magician can utilise. Children follow a much more logical path. A good magician can challenge these assumptions with the clever use of words and actions and yet at the same time adapt them to create meaningful experiences for his or her audience to enjoy and think about long after the performance is over.

Remember, it's not what you saw; it's what you thought you saw.
